Here are the top spots in and around Cumming to grab a real Christmas tree this holiday season. Most are farms where you can cut down your own tree and they offer everything from visits with Santa to hayrides and hot cocoa! Take in the scent of freshly cut trees, strap one to the roof of your car and enjoy all the family activities and memories that come with the experience.
Every winter, Brandy Craig Photography turns her Cumming, GA studio into a winter wonderland, giving children memories of not just meeting Santa, but of an entire Santa experience.
We’ve used Brandy for Santa photos (and all of our family photos) for several years and it’s so nice having a set time to come and avoiding the long lines at the mall. Every year we look forward to her magical Santa shoot. She has such a fun personality, is amazing getting the kids to warm up, laugh and be themselves and she takes mini sessions and sets to a new level with her creative spin and attention to detail.
There are several opportunities to get involved with local charitable organizations and help out right in your own backyard. Best of all, kids can be a part of the experience so you’ll be creating family memories while introducing your kids to the importance of community service and giving back to others. On 52 Forsyth, I try to highlight adventures your family can take all 52 weeks out of the year. One of the most memorable weekly adventures families can take is one serving others and this opportunity I’m going to share with you is one that is available year-round!
We love going up to Gibbs Gardens, which is only about 20 minutes from where we live in Forsyth County. It’s such a great place to connect with nature and unwind and there’s always something new in bloom. This place is so perfect for little ones because it’s shady, there are tons of trails to explore and it’s beyond beautiful!!
Here are 8 things to do on your next visit to Gibbs Gardens.
Fall is here! In Cumming, that means crisp air, colorful leaves to spice up your Sawnee Mountain hikes and walks on the Greenway, and weekends packed with family-friendly festivals and activities. It’s the perfect time of year to head to North Georgia to pick apples and pumpkins, go for a hayride and even meander in a giant sunflower field.
Vickery Village is a charming mixed-use community centered around a large, park-like turf area. Located right across the street from the Polo Fields in West Forsyth, the Village is surrounded by a walkable collection of shops, eateries and activities for the whole family.
Whether you want to unwind, get pampered, shop local or let the kids create memories, here are 20 things to do at this family-friendly destination.
We attended an Atlanta Braves game at the new and cutting-edge SunTrust Park and it is SO amazing!!! It’s much easier for Forsyth County residents to get to this stadium which is located at the intersection of I-75 and I-285 about 10 minutes before downtown Atlanta. It’s 20 percent smaller than Turner Field and has an intimate setting, plus modern amenities, chef-driven restaurants and tons of entertainment both inside and right outside its gates. From the second we stepped into The Battery Atlanta all the way to the splash fountain experience on our way out, SunTrust Park and The Battery create a fun and memorable family-friendly adventure.
Ever wonder what your child weighs in LEGOs or how many LEGOs tall your child is? These are a couple fun facts kids will take back with them following a few hours playing at LEGOLAND Discovery Center. My son attended a birthday here for his 5-year-old buddy and the kids had the best time. The educational components are so carefully woven into LEGOLAND that your child won’t even realize how much they are learning! Here are 10 things to do during your visit.
For the third adventure in our #52weeklyadventures series, I’m featuring a local waterpark that needs to be added to every family’s summer bucket list! We spent a fun-filled summer day at LanierWorld with our friends of Up in Cumming magazine and the kids had the best time!! I had been looking forward to coming here for a couple years now and it seemed like the right time since the kids are at the perfect ages (2.5 and almost 5) for so many of the activities.
I had no idea what to expect and was blown away with all that there is to do for families. In addition to more than a dozen wet rides, slides and attractions, the waterpark offers dive-in family movies, daily live entertainment and a sandy beach. Below is a peek at all of the attractions you will find along with my tips to helping you plan your visit.
There is plenty of family fun in Forsyth County over Fourth of July week. One of my family’s favorite Fourth of July traditions is a visit to the Cumming Fairgrounds for the fireworks and festivities. This free event features live music, inflatables, crafts, and culminates with an amazing display of fireworks. You will also find food vendors and treats, including Kona Ice’s shaved ice truck where proceeds benefit local organization SAFFT (Supporting Adoption & Foster Families Together Inc).
