I love my iced coffee every morning, but when the weather cools and Christmas approaches, it doesn’t get much better than cozying up by the fire with hot chocolate and marshmallows or a warm festive drink. Hot chocolate is also a fun treat for the kids and makes a great date outing!
From on the go to sit down, here are 7 of my favorite local spots for hot cocoa.
Located on Highway 9, this independent coffee shop features pastries and desserts made locally. In addition to hot chocolate, you’ll find Italian chocolates and caramels, a full breakfast and lunch menu and lots of specialty coffee drinks.
2. Nido Cafe
The hot chocolate is topped with a fancy design just like their signature Cafe Nido latte so it looks AND tastes amazing!! Make sure to try a dessert or two like the s’mores cookie sandwich. Go do some holiday shopping in the Village followed by an evening visit to Nido for hot chocolate (or some Spanish wine) out on the back patio. Stay warm under the heated lamp while taking in the lights and energy of Vickery Village.
We love picking up donuts and hot chocolate through their to-go window during a busy weekday morning or inside on the weekend. The doughnuts are made from scratch and the specialties change daily so check their Instagram feed @dutchmonkeydoughnuts to stay in the know!
The pink and teal Malvimobile is at Avalon Friday-Sunday until February! Go spin around on the ice and then grab hot cocoa with Fluff cubes from the truck. It’s steps away from the ice so you’ll warm up in no time! You can also go visit the store at 3040 Keith Bridge Rd, A5, in Cumming. Store hours are 5-8 p.m. Tue-Fri, 12-8 p.m. Sat, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sunday. Or make your own with this hot cocoa and marshmallow set from Malvi!
Looking for something a little cozier where you can enjoy a tasty brunch too? Take the kids on a special date here for hot cocoa after skating. The festive beverage is topped with whipped cream and mini chocolate chips!
Come here to cozy up on the couch and pick a board game to play with the kids while they sip their special treat.
Although it’s not on the menu, you can order a kid’s hot chocolate which comes in an 8 oz. cup at kid-temp (130 degrees). We love visiting the one in Barnes and Noble at The Collection after browsing books.
Most of the Christmas tree farms are serving up hot chocolate too!
